I managed to go on 2 camping trips on some rare weekends I had off work this summer. Leif and I went to Elbow Lake in July, a couple hours away from town, for a relaxing getaway from work. There we listened to helicopters going overhead all day, working the new fires from recent lightning. We still had a great time, and drank a lot of beer. At the beginning of September we spent an awesome hot 3 days in Wells Gray Provincial Park. We camped right on the outlet of Clearwater River from Clearwater Lake the first night. We spent a day exploring all the majestic huge waterfalls in the park. We walked a few km's into one that we could walk behind. It was neat beacause it was a pretty powerfull waterfall, though only about 50 feet high. We saw Helmken Falls, the park's jewel at 480 feet high. The park is just packed full of amazing waterfalls, unfortunately my digital camera's batteries died, and Leif's film SLR gave a blank roll of film, while his digital camera deleted all the photos from the trip. It was kind of eerie, so we have no photos from half the trip. We spent a whole day hiking around in the Alpine up Trophy mountain. We were too late to see the fields of wildflowers unfortunately, but spent the day exploring blue glacier lakes, and rocks. Unfortunately due to the unsupportive runners we wore, we fell short of summitting the steep rocky peak, next time we won't fall short. The only other camping of the summer was on the fireline and in Ontario in big canvas pioneer tents, held up with poles made of trees we logged ourselves.
